How does an LED display maximize its effectiveness in immersive scenes?
2023-12-28New Year’s Eve Countdown! The LED big screen provides a full sense of ceremony as we welcome 2024 together!
2024-01-15Recently, Lux Machina, the special effects production team behind “Barbie,” released an article explaining how they completed the scene of Barbie’s convertible driving in Barbie Park using Warner Bros.’ V Stage virtual production studio in Leavesden, United Kingdom. The V Stage, being one of Europe’s largest virtual production studios, is constructed with over 2600 LED panels and integrated with state-of-the-art processing systems. This once again showcases the immense potential of LED displays in the realm of virtual filmmaking. Let’s delve into the awe-inspiring world of virtual LED shooting together!
China’s Largest “Film-Grade Giant Screen for Shooting”
Speaking of the earliest use of LED screens replacing green screens in filming, undoubtedly, the success story was the American series “The Mandalorian,” which clinched the Best Visual Effects Model award at the 18th Annual VES Awards. One of the factors contributing to its reputation and viewership was its stunning visual effects, employing LED screen virtual production technology, revolutionizing the traditional film and television production process, and taking virtual shooting to new heights. In June of this year, the 5G Smart Virtual Studio located in the Wuxi National Digital Film Industry Park was officially launched. Co-established by the China Film Science and Technology Institute and the Wuxi National Digital Film Industry Park, this studio combines features like “LED virtual shooting + 5G network transmission + AI content generation” in a 5G smart virtual photography joint laboratory.
Currently, the studio has completed the production of the original sci-fi experimental short film “Stellar Origins,” depicting a science fiction journey of a father-daughter duo exploring alien life. Apart from this, the studio has several key film shoots scheduled, further propelling the rise of LED virtual shooting technology.
Under the influence of the metaverse concept, global LED movie virtual shooting studios are burgeoning. Domestically, LED virtual shooting studios at the movie level are in the incubation phase. There is still a considerable gap between the overall understanding of LED movie virtual shooting systems, technical specifications of related equipment, general procedural guidelines for movie shooting in virtual photography studios, and the construction of related talent teams between domestic and international domains. However, development does not stagnate. In the long run, LED virtual shooting, as an important transformation in the film and television industry, holds boundless prospects. In the future, it will evolve as costs decrease and demand increases.
